Day 1: Nairobi - Old Moses Camp

Depart from Nairobi from your hotel and proceed to sirimon gate (2660m). From the gate, we trek up through magnificent montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hut Old Moses camp (3,300m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Old Moses - Shiptons Camp

After breakfast, follow the track uphill, crossing Ontulili River and Liki North River through the Moorland. Have packed lunch at Mackinder’s Valley as you enjoy the paranoiac views of the valley and the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at Shiptons Camp (4,200m). The distance to Shipton’s Camp from old Moses camp is 17kms it takes 6-7 hours.

Day 3: Pt Lenana - Old Moses Camp

Pre-dawn start (3am) for the summit attempt.  Up steep screes and a bare rocky track to reach the summit, Pt Lenana (4,985mts) in time for sunrise.If the sky is clear right across the southern part of Kenya, you will be able to view the peaks of Kilimanjaro. After the sunrise, descend down to Shiptons Camp for breakfast. After relaxing,  descend down to Old Moses camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Old Moses - Sirimon Park Gate 

After breakfast, we will hit the trail down to Sirimon Gate, where we will hold our graduation ceremony and have a brief thanksgiving session. Thereafter, we will catch our ride back to Nairobi, having completed the arduous trek to the highest point reachable on foot in Kenya. We hope to walk out with our hearts fuller and our souls richer, having conquered ourselves and unlocked our mountains.

Day 1: Nairobi -Met station (3,040mts) 

Leave Nairobi at 0800hrs. for a drive to the Naru moru park gate. The drive normally takes 3hrs. Have a picnic lunch at the gate. From the gate, we trek up thro magnificent montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone before reaching Met Station (3,040mts). The trek takes 3-4 hrs. A short hike will be taken in the afternoon to help acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at the bunk houses, Met Station.

Day 2: Met Station – Mackinders Camp (4,300mts)

After breakfast, start your 6-7 hours hike to Mackinders Camp. You will emerge on the edge of the forest where from where you hike across the marshy vertical bog of the lower moorlands. The hike offers gentle climb through fascinating vegetation with nice perspective of the back ground. Have a picnic lunch on the way then proceeding to the spectacular Teleki valley dotted with Lobelias arriving at Mackinders Camp (4,300mts) late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Mackinders Camp.

Day 3: Pt Lenana – Met Station

Pre-dawn start (3am) for the summit attempt. Up steep screes and a bare rocky track to reach the summit, Pt Lenana (4,985mts) in time for sunrise and have a clear view of the majestic scenery. Kilimanjaro is usually visible on a clear day to the south. After the sunrise, descend down to Mackinders camp for breakfast. After relaxing descend down through the steep vertical bog to Met Station (3 to 4 hours). Dinner and overnight at the bunk houses, Met Station. 

Day 4: Met Station – Park Gate

After breakfast, have an easy hike down through the tropical rain forest and bamboo jungle to the park gate for 2½ hours. Be picked at the gate for a drive to Nairobi or other planned destination.

Marangu Route 5 Days

Day 1: Moshi – Mandara

Pick Up from your hotel in Moshi at 8.00 and drive to the Marangu Park Gate (1,900mts). Start hiking from the gate through the dense rainforest. If lucky enough, you will have a glimpse of the thumb less black and white colobus monkeys scrambling through the lush vegetation. After hiking the 8.5Km, you will reach at Mandara Hut (2,720mts) where you will spend your first overnight on Kilimanjaro. Dinner and Overnight at Mandara Hut.

Trekking time is 3 to 4 hours.

Day 2: Mandara – Horombo

After breakfast, start your hike to Horombo Hut (3,740mts). After a short trekking distance, you will reach the tree line where vegetation changes to shrubs as you get to the stark alpine zone. In clear weather you will have stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peak. Dinner and overnight at the Horombo Hut. 

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut

After breakfast, hike 9 km to Kibo hut (4,700mts) in an average hiking time of 4 to 6 hours. The trail passes the last water point. Dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 4: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

Start your day just after midnight for an attempt to the summit. You will begin the long and strenuous trek to the summit in the dark. Passing the Hans Meyer cave at (5,200mts). At sunrise, you will reach Gilman’s Point (5,715mts) on the crater rim. After another 1 to 2 hours of trekking you will reach Uhuru Peak (5,895mts). You will now be at the highest point of Africa “Africa’s Roof”. You’ll then descend back to Horombo Hut via Kibo Hut. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut (3,740mts).

Day 5: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate

After breakfast, descend to the Marangu Park Gate via Mandara Hut. It’s an almost 19km walk today, but the steady downhill makes it a lot easier than the ascent. You will be issued with a Kilimanjaro certificate of completion before leaving the park. Pick up at the Gate and be transferred to Moshi for resting and overnight in a hotel.

5 DAYS MT ELGON

Day 1: Nairobi – Chorlim Gate

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel at Nairobi in the morning and drive to Chorlim Gate, Mt Elgon National Park. This will be a long day drive taking over 7 hours. Have a stop over at Nakuru for early lunch. Upon arrival at the gate, the check-in formalities and park fees entrance fees are done. We pitch our tents at Kapkuro Campsite where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chorlim Gate – Mutamaiyo Camp (2,900mts)

After breakfast, we start the hike following the road that coils all the way to the base of Roadhead camp. We will be trekking through the dense forest with diverse indigenous trees. Have a picnic lunch at Endebess Bluff. The trekking from the gate normally takes about 6 hours and we will arrive at the camp in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Mutamaiyo Camp

Distance covered 14 Kms.

Day 3: Mutamaiyo – Road Head

After breakfast, we start the trek to Roadhead Camp (3,300mts). We will begin to exit the rain forest and welcomee the moorland vegetation. Have a picnic lunch en-route. The trekking to Road head normally takes 4–5 hours. Dinner and overnight at Road Head Camp.

Day 4: Roadhead – Summit (Koitobos peak 4,120mts) – Roadhead

Wake up early, 04:00hrs, and have some hot coffee or chocolate and biscuits. Start the pre- dawn attempt to the summit. At about 4,000 mts, we will have a steep walk to the summit Koitobos Peak (4,120mts). Have an opportunity to see the sunrise. After taking photos we descend down to Roadhead camp for lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Roadhead camp.

Day5: Roadhead – Chorlim Gate

After breakfast and check out from the camp, we start descending the mountain through the thick forest enjoying the morning sunshine. Visit Kitum Caves the largest cave in Africa. Have lunch at the gate and later be transferred to Nairobi or your next destination.

Day 1: Chogoria/Mount Kenya Bandas

Drive from Nairobi to Chogoria, Mount Kenya Bandas (2,900mts). Have lunch en-route at a local restaurant. You will have dinner and camp for overnight at Mt. Kenya Bandas.

Day 2: Mount Kenya Bandas – Lake Ellis

After breakfast leave for Lake Ellis (3,400mts). This hike will take about 5 hrs. Have lunch as you enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Ellis. Dinner and overnight at the camp nearby the lake. Fishing in the afternoon.

Day 3: Lake Ellis – Lake Michaelson

After breakfast, start your hike to Michaelson (4,000mts). The trek takes about 5-6 hrs. On this day you will have the most scenic and spectacular ascent. Picnic lunch served along the way. Beautiful views of Vivienne Falls and the Gorges Valley on descent to the picturesque campsite next to Lake Michaelson. Dinner and overnight at the Camp

Day 4: Lake Michaelson – Shiptons Camp

After breakfast embark on the walk up from the lake Michaelson crater to Shiptons Camp (4,200 mts) Lunch at the camp. Dinner and overnight at Shiptons Camp.

Day 5: Shiptons Camp – Mackinders Camp

From Shipton’s camp, we trek towards the Hausberg Col at (4590mts). We will descend into the upper Hausberg valley and rest at the aptly named oblong and Hausberg tarns. Ascending to the crest of a ridge known as Arthur’s seat we see the trail winding along a beautiful series of rock ledges. We will descend to Mackinders Camp (4,300mts). Dinner and overnight at Mackinders Camp.

Day 6: Ascend point Lenena

Pre-dawn start (3am) for the summit attempt. Up steep screes and a bare rocky track to reach the summit, Pt Lenana in time for sunrise and have a clear view of the majestic scenery. Kilimanjaro is usually visible on a clear day to the south. After the sunrise, descend down to Mackinders camp for breakfast and later descend down through the moorland and bamboo forest to met station for dinner and overnight.

Day7: Met Station-Nairobi

After breakfast descend through the tropical rainforest to the park gate for pick up and transfer back to Nairobi

MT KILIMANJARO MACHAME ROUTE

Day 1: Machame Gate – Machame Camp

After breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel and be driven to Machame Gate. We start the ascent from the gate and trek through the rain forest. The trail may be soggy and muddy due to the rains in the forest. The trek to Machame Hut (2,900mts) will take as about 4-5 hours. Dinner and overnight at the Hut.

Day 2: Machame Hut – Shira Cave

Have an early breakfast and start your trek to Shira Camp (3,800mts). The trail leads to the top of the rain forest, crossing the valley along a steep rocky ridge before climbing more gently on the moorland of the Shira platue. Have picnic lunch en-route. The 7 Kms distance for trek will take us about 4 hours before reaching Shira Camp for dinner and overnight stay.


Day 3: Shira Camp – Barranco Camp

An early breakfast before starting the day. From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower (4,600mts). After lunch we descend to the bottom of the Great Barranco valley to Barranco Camp (3,900mts). The descent offers great opportunities to take some beautiful photographs of the Western Breach. Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.

Distance 11 Kms

Time taken 6-7 hrs.


Day 4: Barranco Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, (the climb on the wall is not technical) to the Karanga Valley. Have a lunch break at Karanga Valley (4,000mts). Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Camp (4,600mts). Dinner and overnight at Barafu Camp.

Distance 10 Kms

Time taken 7-8 hrs.


Day 5: Barafu Camp – Summit

Wake up early at midnight to start the days trek for an attempt to the summit. Take some tea and biscuits to give you some energy. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point you will have some rest. From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. You will now be on the highest part of Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,895mts). From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp (3,100mts) stopping at Barafu for lunch. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp.


Day 6: Mweka Camp – Moshi

After breakfast, descend to Mweka Park Gate. You will receive your certificates of summit completion at the gate. Be transferred to your hotel, Moshi.
